Basilica of Santa Croce in Florence: Exterior Nave and Cloisters
The Nave of the Church of Santa Croce, the Italian Pantheon
On the left of the nave, you can see a very beautiful marble pulpit, with an octagonal structure to harmonise with the pillar against which it is set.

Pulpit of Benedetto da Maiano The sides of the pulpit are carved with scenes from the life of St Francis of Assisi. The statues of the virtues are depicted in the lower niches.
This pulpit dates from 1476 and is the work of Benedetto da Maiano.
But what is most striking in this nave, in addition to its architectural beauty, is the profusion of tombs of famous Florentines and Italians that can be seen here.
