Bardi and Baroncelli Chapels in Santa Croce, Florence

Bardi Chapel

The frescoes in this chapel are by Giotto and show St Francis receiving the stigmata and, in two medallions, Adam and Eve.

Other scenes show St Francis stripping off his clothes in front of Bishop Guido and Father Bernadone, and St Francis can also be seen in the church of Arles predicting to St Anthony.

The Baroncelli Chapel

The Gothic tomb on the outer wall, made by Giovanni di Balduccio in 1327, contains one of the members of the Baroncelli family.

The frescoes by Taddeo Gaddi, made in 1332-1338, relate the life of the Virgin. Taddeo Gaddi, who was a pupil of Giotto, also created the stained glass window of the four prophets.
